Meet the Owners
Garrett and Wendy Berends, long-time Smithers residents, purchased the Smithers Guesthouse in 2012 when the opportunity unexpectedly arose. They renovated and refreshed the space, embracing what Garrett describes as “a new challenge—one that we are embracing wholeheartedly.”
They love welcoming travellers from across Canada and around the world, many visiting for skiing, fishing, and exploring the area. Guests appreciate being just a five-minute walk to town while still surrounded by nature and close to Hudson Bay Mountain.
Garrett and Wendy themselves love the Smithers lifestyle. As Garrett says, “There is nothing we don’t like—it has a little bit of everything for everyone.”
